Movie: Houseboat

ahhh. i love the Dryden. Just got back from Houseboat, with Cary Grant and Sophia Loren. A truly beautiful film in many aspects: acting, cinematography, backstate gossip, shot in Technicolor and VistaVision print of this truly beautiful film. the color alone of the film is gorgeous, and then there’s the acting, the story, etc. a great classic. sad that Cary Grant was in love with Sophia but during the filming of this, she married Carlo Ponti instead. Yet she was so lovely.  And it’s another similar theme of movies at that time: the step family and how to be a parent and raise kids. “Yours, Mine & Ours”, even “Rebel Without a Cause” and others came out about the same time. I love the talks before the movies at the Dryden. I get more and more impressed with George Eastman the more I learn about him, and enjoy the George Eastman House and International Museum of Photography.
